About the Creative Uprising Hub
The Queen Victoria Hospital heritage Art Deco building has been transformed into The Creative Uprising Hub (at Transwerke). The Creative Uprising Hub offers Makers & Visual Artists affordable office spaces and runs programmes to support the enterprises from a market access, business and product design perspective. The Hub aims to form a network that will drive the growth of creative industries in the province, providing more jobs, more education, and more opportunities.
The Creative Uprising at Transwerke is located within the Constitution Hill Precinct at Sam Hancock Street, Braamfontein. You are welcome to park in the underground parking of Constitution Hill and walk down to the Studios. There is limited on-street parking outside of the Transwerke building itself. There will be a shuttle which will take you around to the other venues and which departs from the entrance to the Transwerke building. Please be advised that the last shuttle will leave at 4:30pm and do one loop. If you miss that shuttle, you will need to make your own way back to your vehicle.

The Weight of Silence
Mhlophe — a colour whispered through the ages, carrying the breath of ancestors and the quiet pulse of heritage. In South Africa, it is the thread woven into the fabric of identity, a symbol of purity, spirit, and the weight of forgotten stories.
Within this silent space where history breathes softly alongside the noise of now, handmade traditions unfold anew. Here, each piece stands alone in calm reverence, inviting the eye to linger, the heart to listen, and the soul to remember.
Not bold or loud, these works hold a stillness — a quiet power born from the meeting of past and present. Through gentle simplicity and thoughtful reinvention, they speak of roots deep and resilience enduring, drawing us into the sacred geometry of craft where time folds and stories live.
