10 Million Makers began as 10 Million Masks, a citizen-led initiative mobilizing Africans to create and distribute masks during the pandemic—ultimately producing and donating over 320,000 masks
Since then, the movement has evolved into a registered not-for-profit and public benefit organisation, broadening its scope from emergency response to long-term community development.
Today, 10 Million Makers amplifies the efforts of individuals who are already creating social change—what they call “growers and makers”—by providing them with resources like skills, networks, and mentorship to help scale sustainable ventures in townships, informal settlements, and urban centers.
They also engage volunteers and supporters through programs such as creative workshops (“The Antidote,” “Art of Kindness,” “Sneaky Sundays,” and “Friends of Sophia”), tree planting efforts, bursaries, and an online store that offers works like plant art and originals, all aimed at building kinder, empowered communities
